Elections and Registration News

Welcome to the official website of the Putnam County Board of Elections and Registration. Please check back often for election and registration news, updates, and additional content.

Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 21-2-417) requires Georgia residents to show photo identification when voting in person. For additional information, please click here or call 706.485.8683.

If you have misplaced your precinct card or have not yet received one after registering, you can now access it and print it at home by visiting your My Voter Page on the Secretary of State's website. Voters are not required to show their precinct card at the polls

Voters who wish to request an absentee ballot for the November 8, 2016 General Election may begin submitting applications on May 12. Absentee voters who requested a ballot for the General Primary and Nonpartisan Election and marked themselves as either elderly or disabled will automatically receive a ballot for November.

Advance voting for the General Election opens Monday, October 17 at 8:00 am in the Board of Elections and Registration office in the courthouse. Advance voting runs from October 17 to November 4, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The BER office will also be open for voting on Saturday, October 29, from 9 AM to 4 PM.

A satellite advance voting location will be open from 8 AM to 5 PM during the last week of advance voting, October 31-November 4, in the Board of Commissioner's Meeting Room located in the Putnam County Administration Building. Because the BER office cannot accomodate a large number of voters at any one time, the BER strongly encourages all advance voters to take advantage of this location as it is much bigger and has more voting machines. Additionally, it is much easier for handicapped voters to access than the courthouse as there are no stairs to navigate and voters can park closer to the building.

The voter registration deadline for the November 8, 2016 General Election and any subsequent run-off is Tuesday, October 11, 2016. If you need to register or are unsure of your registration status, please call the Baord of Elections and Registration office at 706.485.8683 or visit your My Voter Page on the Secretary of State's website.
